[edit] The Knowledge Practices Environment
The KP-Environment contains several different components. Each section below describes each part of the KP-Environment and how they can be used to get the most out of the Shared Space.

[edit] The Menu Bar (#2)
The Menu Bar (#2 in figure 1) includes almost all the actions that are possible within the Shared Space.
[edit] The context menu (right-click menu)
The context menu can be displayed by pressing on the secondary mouse button (usually found on the right for right-handed mouse users). This menu is very useful and presents all actions that are associated with the object or area that was clicked. Please remember to use the context menu whenever possible.

Shared spaces can be searched with the Quick Find (#3 in figure 1) by typing the name of the shared space in the Quick Find text field.

[edit] The Controls Tab (#5)
The Controls Tab (#5 in figure 1) includes helpful actions to manipulate how and what objects are displayed within your current view of a specific shared space. For example, you can show or hide objects by object type within the view area of a shared space.

The Information Tab (#6 in figure 1) displays information (or metadata) depending of what object is selected.

The View Area (#7 in figure 1) is where you are presented with the different types of views and the available objects within them.
When you first access the KP-Environment Tools, you are greeted by the Network View of Shared Spaces, which can contain the following objects:
Once inside a Shared Space, you can see the following views:

All objects in any view can be directly manipulated with the use of a mouse.

(#8 in figure 1) Fit on Screen button makes it easy to zoom in/out for when you want to see all objects within your current view.

[edit] Known Issues
Opening content items with Intenet Explorer may require you to change your security configuration.
- Click the menu "Tool" and then "Internet Option..."
- Under the "Security" tab, click the "Custom Level..." button.
- Scroll down and "Enable" the option "Automatic prompting for filedownloads".
- Click "OK" for both option windows.
- Then, when you try to open a content item, it should prompt you an option to either download the file or open it.
